Doctor / What seems to be the trouble?

Patient / My legs have been itchy since this past summer. The itching is sometimes quite unbearble.

医師 / どうなさいましたか？

患者 / この夏以来、足にかゆみがあり、時々耐えられないときがあります。

Doctor / When exactly do your legs itch?

Patient / Well, for example, they get itchy just after taking a bath.

医師 / どんな時特にかゆくなりますか？

患者 / 例えばお風呂に入った後などです。

Doctor / What do you usually do when they get itchy? Do you scratch them?

Patient / I can't help scratching the itchy place.

Doctor / I'd like to examine your legs. Could you take off your panty hose?

医師 / かゆみが起こった時はどうしていますか？掻きますか？

患者 / 掻かないではいられません。

医師 / 診察してみましょう。パンティストッキングを脱いでいただけますか？

知っておきたい豆知識

・「I can't help 〜ing」は「〜せざるをえない」という意味で使われます。例えば「I couldn't help laughing at it」は「思わず笑ってしまった」。
