Senior-level University students who have completed a bachelor's degree or comparable level of studies and are currently a: graduate student or post-doctoral researcher in Life Sciences, medicine, IT/computational sciences, physics and business. Business level English is required.(Please see below) The number of attendees at BioCamp Japan is limited to 30. Three Winners of BioCamp Japan are eligible to participate in the International BioCamp to be held in Basel, Switzerland on August 28-31, 2016.
All lectures/discussions at Biocamp is conducted in English. At least business level of English is required. Please use the assessment criteria below. Beginner Level. You are basically a student of the language and enjoy working with it. You cannot be depended on to apply this language reliably in a real world situation. Conversational Level. You have basic speaking and comprehension skills in this language. You are able to express yourself in this language and you can exchange basic ideas with someone who only speaks this language. Business Level. You are experienced enough with the language to conduct business in it. You are able to engage a native speaker of this language without offending them. You are able to take instructions in this language and carry them out without error. Fluent Level. You are fully versed in this language, speaking, reading and writing it as well as a native speaker. You can keep up with a fast-paced dialogue between two native speakers of this language.

A personal and original video (2 minutes max.): "Why I want to participate in BioCamp 2016". Please send mov,mp4, or wmv files via email only. The total size of the submitted files should not exceed 5 megabyte. If your submission exceeds 5 megabytes, please provide a URL to download the file.
Applications may be submitted between May 9 10:00 until June 13, 10.00 (JST). The deadline has already passed.

You will be notified via email from [email protected] if you have been selected to participate in the 2016. We do not provide details about the selection process. The information provided at the time of the application will be held in strict confidence and will only be used to select participants for Novartis BioCamp 2016 JAPAN. Applicants retain the copyright of the essay and video submitted with the application. Cost of meals and lodging during BioCamp Japan will be covered by Novartis. Transportation cost to and from Tokyo will be subsidized by Novartis based on the distance from participants' residence to Tokyo; ＜350km (Chubu area, Sendai) JPY10 000 350km～500km (Kansai area, Morioka) JPY15 000 500km～800km (Shikoku, Chugoku, Aomori) JPY20 000 ＞800km (Hokkaido, Kyushu, Okinawa area) JPY25 000 Travel, meal, and lodging costs for International BioCamp in Basel, Switzerland will be covered by Novartis AG. Please note that all Novartis BioCamp programs are open for journalists to attend as observers.
